چکیده

ABSTRACT Background: We analyzed if C. lusitanica can be planted in a shelterwood system with P. taeda as the shelter stratum. The study was conducted 13-yr-old stand under canopy Southern Brazil. Samples of these trees were measured terms diameter at breast height (DBH), total height, individual volume, and crown projection area. species´ growing space efficiency (GSE) also analyzed. A 10-meters distance criterion from applied to check their influence on growth behavior through correlation. Results: 36-yr-old showed expressive means dendrometric variables, compatible its age (mean DBH 58 cm, 30 m, volume 3.7 m³, area 128 m²). There statistically significant effect (p>0.05) cover ~13 cm). Although not significant, an observed height. two species summed basal 36.5 m² ha-1 34,209.2 ha-1. tendency increasing GSE for both species. Conclusion: These results show that is possible, but further investigations longer production cycles silvicultural treatments (i.e. thinnings removal) should better understanding systems southern Brazil performance soil use sustainability.

Introgression between Pinus taeda L. and Pinus echinata Mill

Loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) and shortleaf pine (Pinus echinata Mill.) have widely overlapping geographic ranges. Hybridization between the two species has interested tree breeders for a long time. Morphologically, the two pine species are different. The needles of loblolly pine are 6 to 9 inches long, usually with three yellow-green needles per fascicle; but shortleaf pine needles are 3 to 5...

Association genetics in Pinus taeda L. I. Wood property traits.

Genetic association is a powerful method for dissecting complex adaptive traits due to (i) fine-scale mapping resulting from historical recombination, (ii) wide coverage of phenotypic and genotypic variation within a single experiment, and (iii) the simultaneous discovery of loci and alleles. In this article, genetic association among single nucleotide polymorphisms (58 SNPs) from 20 wood- and ...

Micropropagation of Pinus taeda L. via axillary buds

Introduction Pinus taeda stands for productivity and quality of its timber [1]. Researches using biotechnology are of great importance and have been applied to the improvement of its timber and plantation [2]. The main method of Pinus propagation is by seeds, once the minicuttings depends on the season of the year or depends of juvenile material [3-5]. Thus, researches on micropropagation of Pi...
